Ticel bounces back with 2 straight wins

AFTER two straight losses in the previous week, Ticel Corp. bounced back and capped a two-game winning streak in IBL Toyota Cup 3rd Conference play last Monday and Tuesday at the University of San Agustin gym.

Ticel clobbered IVQ Landholdings-USA in a 122-85 rout Tuesday night. Ryan Concha led four scorers in double digits with a conference high 38 points. He dropped five three-point bombs in the first quarter and tallied 16 points in the second half.

IVQ, who only lost their second game in the conference, were totally outgunned and outplayed by the bigger Ticel squad.

Ticel had a 32 lead after the half, 65-33, and then extended it to 36 points coming into the fourth quarter.

Ticel just outscored the young cagers of IVQ Landholdings in every quarter: 35-18 in the first; 30-15 in the second; 27-23 in the third; and 30-29 in the final canto.

The fourth quarter was trash time for both teams and the game was already wrapped up in the third.

Elvin Leonida led IVQ with 18 points, while Roberto Janeo had 15. James Calma and Emil Jesus Villanueva had 12 points each. Team captain Mark Frial, their hero in their two victories, only tallied six points.

Meanwhile, Ticel's first win came at the hands of the Egger Farm Eggnites last Monday, 98-83.

Concha again led Ticel with 23 points, while Roy Billanes had 22. Balgos, Miravalles and Salcedo had 12 points each.

Only two players were able to reach double figures for the Eggnites. Ruego and Piagola tallied 18 each in their fourth loss of the conference.
