4th district Lakas candidates to junk Garin: Palmares
By Jay Dooma Balnig

ALTHOUGH they have committed to support President Arroyo's bid for a full term as president, Lakas-CMD candidates in the 4th District are reportedly not keen on backing the gubernatorial bid of 1st District Rep. Oscar Garin, who is most probably the ruling party's standard bearer in Iloilo.

Passi City Mayor Jesry Palmares, Lakas-CMD chair in the 4th District, said incumbent mayors in his area will be the official candidates of Lakas-CMD but they will still support the reelection bid of Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. of Ugyon party.

The initial list of Lakas-CMD candidates for mayor in the 4th District include Rolando Distura in Dumangas, Board Member Henry Anotado in Dingle, Zafiro Palabrica in San Enrique, Pedro Hautea in Barotac Nuevo, Carlos Cabangal in Banate and three others.

Distura, Palabrica, Hautea and Cabangal are all reelectionists.

Meanwhile, Palmares said he has already obtained the party nomination for him to be the official administration candidate for congressman in the 4th District.

Dr. Ferjenel Biron, Palmares' archrival, is backing Garin's candidacy.
