Treņas wants snag-free '04
By Ronilo Ladrido Pamonag

FOR his Christmas wish, Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treņas hopes to have a frown-free 2004.

"Well, my Christmas wish is that, hopefully, the quite heavy problems I'm facing will be gone by next year," he said.

By "quite heavy problems" the mayor is referring to the worsening traffic situation, garbage collection and "the development of our City."

For his critics, the mayor is wishing that "the spirit of Christmas will permeate their hearts."

Busy

What keeps him busy these holidays, he said, is the number of Christmas parties he has to attend.

Over the weekend, he said, he attended 18 Christmas parties of barangays and clubs.

This is a record highest, he told reporters.

Reporters covering the City Hall observe that the mayor is barely seen in his office nowadays. Most often, he has appointments and functions to attend.

Other than the 180 barangay Christmas parties to attend, the mayor also received invitations to similar occasions from clubs and organizations.
