By Jay Dooma Balnig

AN ANTIQUEÑO priest, who once served the parish of Janiuay, Iloilo, was honored during his 100th birthday last Saturday.

Most Rev. Ildefonso Odi was airlifted on board a chopper from his residence in Bugasong town in Antique to Januiay where at least 6,000 devotees were waiting to welcome him.

Odi officiated the mass with the assistance of several clergyman.

He served the town for 33 years--from 1956 to 1989--before he retired.
Local folks described the event as similar to the town's religious fiesta.

Odi was responsible for the construction of chapels in various barangays of Janiuay, Iloilo.
