THE Iloilo Provincial Board is seeking clarification on the power bills incurred by the Provincial Government following the transfer of its offices to the new Capitol building last November.

Questions surfaced after the Provincial Government's billing from Panay Electric Company reached P1.956 million as of Jan. 20.

From Nov. 30 to Dec. 31, 2003, Capitol incurred P973,776 in power bills.

This, even if a supplemental budget of P1.3 million for electric expenses was already approved Dec. 16. The amount was allocated for the November-December billing.

In Tuesday's session, first district PB Member Janette Garin questioned the request for allocation of P973,776 when the Provincial Government has a payable of P1.956 million.

The General Services Office, headed by Ramie Salcedo, requested for authority to charge the amount to current appropriation for electricity expense.

The matter, however, was referred to the committee on appropriations headed by third district PB Member Vicente Ramirez.

Ramirez said his committee will submit a report on the matter next week.

All the Provincial Government offices have been transferred to the the New Provincial Capitol after it was inaugurated in November 27.

The six-storey building, which has two elevators, uses a centralized airconditioning system.

The sixth floor houses the PB session hall and the office of Vice Gov. Roberto Armada while the fifth floor, that of the PB members and their staff.

Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. holds office in the third floor.
