So-oc resettlement project completed end of March

THE So-oc Resettlement Site in Mandurriao, Iloilo City, is set to be completed last week of March, according to the office of the Iloilo Flood Control Project.

The 1.8-hectare site, about four kilometers from Iloilo airport, will be occupied by 173 families affected by the flood control project.

At of end of December 2003, the site was about 60 percent complete.

The project includes the improvement of about a kilometer of access road from the main road to the resettlement site while its amenities, concrete-paved main access road with curbs and gutter and concrete sidewalks, asphalt concrete secondary roads and road alleys, drainage facilities, water supply system, multi-purpose building and facilities electrical and lighting facilities.

Civil works

The Iloilo Flood Control Project Phase II comprises civil works with four packages.

Packages 1 and 2 of civil works are now up for bidding. It is expected to commence within the year.

The development of So-oc Resettlement Site is part of Package 3.

Data gatherings and preliminary surveys of Package 4, the development of resettlement site for Stage 2 project is ongoing. The project is seen to start next year.

The improvement of the access road to the Kasadyahan Site in Balabag, Pavia is also ongoing.

The site, developed by the National Housing Authority (NHA), will be occupied by 75 families also affected by the flood control project.
