THE New People's Army (NPA) is now concentrating on their election-related operations instead of strengthening their organization, according to the military.

Maj. Oscar Lasangue, spokeperson of Task Force Panay, said that based on intelligence reports, the NPA continues to collect fees for permit-to-campaign especially in Capiz, which is under the Jose Percival Estocada Command Central Front Committee.

The area is under Adora Faye de Vera alias Ka Bida and Gaspar Matullano alias Ka Mayok.

"They are now concentrating on their political operations instead of strengthening their organization," Lasangue said.

Moreover, the military official revealed they received several complaints from some residents in Tapaz, Capiz that the communist rebels are forcing them to vote for party-list groups Bayan Muna, Anak Pawis, Gabriela and Migrante.

Lasangue, however, said they could not directly counter such activities as they could be charged for electioneering because they are members of the Armed Forces.

But they are now strengthening the conduct of conferences or symposia in rebel-infested areas as part of their information campaign.
