No decision yet for relief of TMEU chief By Ruby P. Silubrico
ILOILO City Mayor Jerry Treñas has yet to approve the recommendation of city police director, Senior Supt. Policarpio Segubre, to relieve Insp. Nathaniel Campos as chief of the Traffic Management and Engineering Unit (TMEU).
Treñas said he still has to consult the Commission on Elections (Comelec) considering movement of personnel is banned during the election period.
Segubre had already picked three candidates who are probable replacements for Campos.
They are Senior Insp. Clemente Bolences, deputy commander of Police Precinct 1 (PP1); Senior Insp. Ben Genodepa, deputy group director of the Iloilo City Mobile Group; and Supt. Leo Puertollano, who is assigned at the Iloilo City Police Office.
Segubre earlier said he sought Campos' relief because he committed several lapses as a police officer.
Campos reportedly poked a gun at PO3 Nick Cepe, a desk sergeant of the PP1, and hit a man on the head during the Dinagyang celebration last January.
He was also accused by his Singaporean friend of stealing his gun after their drinking session.
Campos also has a misunderstanding with several traffic aides, Segubre added.
Segubre said he will respect whatever the mayor's decision will be. "My recommendation has nothing to do with politics. It's purely a police matter."RPS
