New provincial mayors expected to sack PNP chiefs
By Jay Dooma Balnig

VARIOUS police chiefs in respective municipalities will be sacked as soon as the newly elected mayors in the province assumes office, according Deputy Provincial Police Dir. Supt. Cornelio Defensor.

Defensor confirmed that several chiefs of police might be affected with the revamp because the mayors have the power to remove every police chief assigned in their area.

He added that as mandated by law, the relief of police chiefs is the prerogative of every mayor, including the selection of four or five nominees as successor.

The practice usually happens after every national and local elections.

Incumbent mayors will assume their post on June 30.
