The Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (Picpa) subdued the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) in a close contest, 55-52, during an exhibition game Saturday in line with the Accountancy Week celebration at the Iloilo Sports Complex covered gym.
Picpa stole the lead halfway of the second quarter since they were held scoreless in the last six minutes of the first period.
The game heated up after the first deadlock, 49 all, when Picpa top scorer Esteban Dalisay completed a three-point play off the fastbreak with 1:49 ticks left.
Led by Dalisay, who amassed 17 points, the accountants pulled away to 54-49.
The IBP, however, came closer to 54-52 after Leo Monserate converted his foul to a count play with 20 seconds remaining.
Dalisay then made one of his two charity shots to make it 55-52 with 4.1 seconds remaining.
The lawyers had the chance to extend the game if Ian Feliciano made his ythree-point attempt in the last ball possession.
