Toddler dies; 7 confined due to food poisoning
By Jay Dooma Balnig

A THREE-year-old boy died while seven other members of the Labiste family were hospitalized early this week after eating dinugu-an, a viand made of a pig's internal organs.

Jose Labiste Jr. said that last Friday his wife Emily bought several kilos of pork meat and innards at Passi City market.

However, they returned the meat when it smelled rotten when they cooked it.

They cooked the innards but when Jose Sr. ate it, he vomited.

Several minutes later, other members of the family complained of abdominal pain and dizziness.

Their neighbors brought them to the Iloilo Provincial Hospital.

Jose Labiste III, 3, was proclaimed dead.

Confined were Jose Sr. and Emily and children Ricky Boy, 16; Jeovannie, 12; Jessica, 11 and Jessa, 9; Jerica, 4.
