2 Ilonggo solons among richest in House
* Representatives Judy Syjuco of the second district and Ferj Biron of the fourth district ranked third and fourth, respectively
* Syjuco has a total net worth of P251.2 million while Biron, P231.4 million
TWO Ilonggo solons are among the richest in the House of Representatives, based on their declared Statement of Assets and Liabilities (SAL) for 2004.
Representatives Judy Syjuco of the second district and Ferj Biron of the fourth district ranked third and fourth, respectively.
Syjuco, wife of Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Head Augusto Syjuco, has an asset of P270.1 million with liabilities of P18.9 million for a total net worth of P251.2 million.
She succeeded her husband as second district representative.
Biron, a neophyte lawmaker, has total valued asset of P276 million, total asset of P276.8 million, liabilities of P45.5 million, or a net worth of P231.4 million.
A physician, Biron owns the pharmaceutical company Pharma Wealth.
The richest among the 227 millionaires at the House of Representatives is Las Piñas Representative Cynthia Villar, wife of Senator Manuel Villar.
Villar has a liability-free worth of P531.2 million.
Representative Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo Jr. of the fifth district of Negros Occidental is the second richest, with an asset worth more than P300 million, with liabilities of P15.5 million or a net worth of P291.6 million.
Arroyo, brother-in-law of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, said to be the controversial "Jose Pidal."
"Jose Pidal," according to Senator Panfilo Lacson, is First Gentleman Jose Miguel Arroyo, who have amassed hundreds of millions from alleged illegal financial sources.
But Ignacio instead claimed he is "Jose Pidal."
The son of Senator Edgardo Angara, Rep. Juan Edgardo "Sonny" Angara of Aurora Province, ranked fifth with valued asset of P112.8 million, with liabilities of P530,000, or a net worth of P112.3 million.
The two sons of former ambassador Eduardo "Danding" Cojuangco--Representatives Mark and Charlie Cojuangco of Pangasinan and fourth district of Negros Occidental - are in the 19th and 20th spots, respectively.
Mark declared a total asset of P50.1 million while his younger brother, Charlie, P5.9 million.
Other congressmen in the top 20 are: Rafael Nantes, Quezon; Mary Ann Susano, Quezon City; Juan Ponce Enrile Jr., Cagayan; Antonio Floirendo Jr., Davao; Ronaldo Puno, Antipolo City; Glenda Ecleo, Surigao del Norte; Francis Nepomuceno, Pampanga; Amelita Villarosa, Mindoro Occidental; Rodolfo Plaza, Agusan del Sur; Gilberto Teodoro, Tarlac; Rodolfo Valencia, Mindoro Oriental; Pendro Pancho, Bulacan; Ronaldo Zamora, San Juan; Teodoro Locsin Jr., Makati City; and Florencio Vargas, Cagayan.
