Ex-army man shot dead by neighbor
A FORMER Army trooper was shot dead by his neighbor Thursday at his house in Villa Hermosa Subdivision in Baldoza, La Paz, Iloilo City.
Killed was Martin Francis White, 32.
White was allegedly shot by Domingo Soropia, 42, at around 5:30 p.m. but he died only after several hours at the Iloilo St. Paul's Hospital.
Police report said the suspect entered White's residence and shot him several times using a 12-gauge shotgun.
The suspect tried to escape but policemen of La Paz Station arrested him. The gun he used was also recovered.
White was once detained at Police Precinct 2 in La Paz after he maltreated his common-law wife two months. He had also engaged in an altercation with the members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG).
Major Lyndon Sollesta of the 3rd Infantry Division confirmed that White was declared absent without leave (Awol) last December.
But he was not able to return his government-issued firearms, including an M16 armalite rifle and a .45 cal. pistol. (RPS)
