Raid information leakage acted on By Ruby P. Silubrico
THE Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (Pdea) 6 is now acting on the reported leakage of information on drug raids.
Superintendent Rolen Balquin, Pdea regional director, said one of their moves is a loyalty check among his personnel.
Though Balquin said he has not yet received information that his men are involved, he still wants to make sure they are sincere in their fight against illegal drugs.
He said since he took over as Pdea regional director, most of their raids with search warrants turned out negative thus, they are now shifting their operation to buy-busts, most of which have positive results.
"The buy-bust operations have been effective except sometimes for lapses in inventory and in our witnesses," he said.
Reasons for negative results
Balquin said there are three possible reasons why drug raids turn out negative.
It is either the assets give advance information to the subjects or target pushers, the court leaks the information on the issuance of search warrants or there are persons paid by drug suspects to monitor the court.
Balquin said he is now coordinating with the courts on the confidentiality and security of drug cases.
With this move, Balquin said, he is optimistic they will have more apprehensions.
