Transformer blast caused 10-hour brownout
THE 10-hour brownout in Iloilo City Tuesday morning was caused by an explosion of the current transformer of the Panay Power Corp. at its plant in Ingore, La Paz.
The power interruption started at around 1 a.m. and by 5 a.m., power was restored in about 20 percent of areas covered by Panay Electric Company (Peco).
Radio reports said electricity resumed in all areas in the city only between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. Tuesday.
The current transformer is crucial to power transmission as it is connected to the main power line transmitting power from Panay Power Corp. to Peco's coverage area.
