Taxi driver held-up, killed by passenger
By Ruby P. Silubrico

A TAXI driver died after he was held-up by his passenger Monday night in Phase 5, Alta Tierra Village, Jaro.

The victim was identified as Dennis Jarloc, 34, of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City and a driver of Light of Glory with plate number FVS 294.

According to reports, the victim was driving his taxi along Jaro Plaza when the suspect, Manior Montano, a tricycle driver, rode his taxi and gave instructions to bring him to Alta Tierra.

However, upon reaching Alta Tierra Village, the suspect got a knife then declared a hold-up.

The driver fought back causing him and the suspect to grapple. The suspect then stabbed the victim several times on his chest. Montano fled to the inner part of Alta Tierra.

Jarloc, through his taxi's handheld radio, informed a fellow taxi driver, Mark Sevilla that he was held-up and stabbed. Sevilla was in Barangay Quintin Salas when he got the call.

"Si One Ball ni, gin-hold-up ako di sa Alta Tierra," was what Jarloc said, according to Sevilla.

Sevilla added that when he arrived at the crime scene, Jarloc was unconscious. He rushed Jarloc to the West Visayas State University but was declared dead upon arrival.

The victim's collection that is worth P1,600 was recovered in his wallet but his personal belongings are missing.

Meanwhile, Montano surrendered Wednesday afternoon to the Jaro police.
