Security alert up for Palaro

* Malls and other business establishments will also be guarded


THE Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) has raised alert for the Palaro Pambansa 2005 that opens Sunday afternoon at the Iloilo Sports Complex.

Police personnel will be deployed in the billeting areas and playing venues.

"We're already set but we're hoping for more augmentation forces in the playing venues," said Senior Superintendent Norlito Bautista, city police director.

More than 100 rookie police officers rendering on-the-job- training will assist in the visibility operations during the national event that will run from May 8 to 14.

"We will have foot and mobile patrols especially at night; checkpoints will be set up," Bautista added.

Malls and other business establishments will also be guarded.

Bautista reminded the delegates to be wary of the presence of thieves like pickpockets and snatchers and swindlers.

"I'm warning the delegates not to talk or entertain persons they do not know," he added.

Billeting Areas

During the week-long games the contingent from Region 1 will be billeted at Mandurriao Central Elementary School; Region 2, Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School; Region 3 at R. Avanceña National High School; Region 4-A at Jaro National High School, 4-B at Rizal Elementary School;

Region 5, Arevalo Elementary School; Region 6, Iloilo National High School; Region 7, Pavia Pilot Elementary School; Region 8, Baluarte Elementary School; Region 9, La Paz I Elementary School; Region 10, Jalandoni Memorial National High School; Region 11, at Oton National High School;

Region 12, I. Arroyo Elementary School; Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao, Oton Central Elementary School; Cordillera Autonomous Region, Pavia National High School; Caraga Region, Jaro I Elem School; and NCR, Santa Barbara Central Elementary School.

Playing Venues

Archery will be played at Santa Barbara National Comprehensive High School; athletics, football, sipa, swimming and volleyball secondary, Iloilo Sports Complex; badminton, ISC covered gym; baseball secondary, Pavia National High
School; baseball elementary at University of San Agustin grounds; boxing, Jaro plaza gym; chess, table tennis and volleyball elementary, SM City Iloilo;

Football elementary, La Paz plaza; gymnastics, De Paul College gym; sepak takraw, North Fundidor, Molo gym; softball, Santa Barbara Central School; taekwondo, Iloilo Doctors' College; and throwing events, WIT New Site.
