Cops seize ammos, unlicensed guns
By Ruby P. Silubrico

ASSORTED unlicensed firearms and ammunition were seized by the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) headed by Senior Superintendent Efren Quintos in two separate raids last Friday in the towns of San Miguel and Lambunao.

The IPPO Special Task Group led by Inspector Rey Funtes and the Regional Intelligence Office 6 first raided the house of Alberto Sabido, 58 of Sitio Bawi, Barangay 4, San Miguel, Iloilo at around 4:30 p.m.

The team recovered two homemade 12-gauge long barrel shotguns, a caliber .38 and two caliber .22 revolvers, ammunition of 12-gauge and paraphernalia used in making guns.

Quintos, in a news briefing said that he received information that the suspect often fires his gun in his house causing alarm on his neighbors.

"We immediately got a search warrant, then raided his house and we have a positive result. This is now the result of our campaign against loose firearms," Quintos said.

Meanwhile, the suspect admitted that he is manufacturing guns in order to survive for almost four years already.

He admitted that he manufactures based on orders but he does not indiscriminately fire his guns. He said that he fires to test the guns.

He revealed that most of his clients are village police and civilians and these serve as their protection from cattle rustlers.

On Saturday, assorted ammunition of caliber .38 revolver and 12-gauge shotgun were recovered inside the house of Honrado Claudio of Barangay Bagongbong, Lambunao.

A caliber .9MM pistol was also recovered in his house during the raid conducted by the IPPO-STG at around 7 a.m.
