It will be recalled that the aforementioned organizations were the prime movers in the successful celebration of the Ruby Anniversary of the Social Work Law last June. The historic event, which has gained support from the Regional Development Council as well as the nationwide recognition resulted to the declaration of Social Work Week on June 13 to 19 in Western Visayas by virtues of resolutions/ordinances passed by respective local legislatives bodies in Region VI.

Prof. Edwin I. Lariza, chairman of the Department of Social Work, CPU and concurrent president of the Regional Social Workers Association intimated that the national leadership is in the process of working for the institutionalization of the celebration in the national level. He considered such development a product of the successful advocacy of Ilonggo social workers and expressed thanks to all social workers in region VI that supported the cause.
