Sining Galaw holds Halloween Special at SM City Iloilo

SINING Galaw Performing Arts sprouted from a noble vision of sharing the art of acting to children. The initiators, mostly teachers, felt the need to help these kids express themselves in school and in relating with others. The idea was conceived by three individuals--Franco and Alma Janagap and Cary Pangantihon.

It was the latter who introduced Sining Galaw first and tried the undertaking in Sta. Barbara Central Elementary School. It started with fifteen students who were given acting workshops and trained in Filipino declamation in the first semester of school year 2004-2005. The first culminating activity was held at Sta. Barbara CES sometime in the third week of October 2004.

Due to the overwhelming acceptance of children and parents in Sta. Barbara of such activity, Ms Janagap felt the need to extend the same in Pavia where she had 15 elementary pupil participants in her residence, the temporary venue, in the second semester of school year 2004-2005.

Later, Sining Galaw invited Marita Dy U. Sorrilla, teacher friend of Alma and Cary, to join in the endeavor to teach basic ballet lessons. The former responded positively and started her ballet lessons in Pavia National High School in the same semester.

It was on April 22, 2005 that the second batch of graduates of Sining Galaw starred in a culminating activity held in SM City Iloilo. The program included performances in ballet, contests in English and Filipino declamation and intermission numbers from Sining Galaw members who were champions in the character impersonation and declamation contest in the Division and Regional levels.

Sining Galaw Performing Arts is now on its second year of existence and continues to gain popularity. Most of the participants are contestants of different schools in Pavia and Sta. Barbara to the annual Literary-Musical contests and Speech Fest sponsored by the Department of Education. It has helped many students harness their acting potentials and develop their confidence and personality in achieving excellence in various activities and competitions.

Sining Galaw Performing Arts will be presenting a Halloween Special on its 3rd Culminating Activity at SM City Iloilo Activity Center on Friday, October 28 at 1 p.m.

An afternoon of educational entertainment awaits one and all. Witness young talents, sing, act and perform ballet. Watch them compete in declamation, storytelling and character impersonation.

Bring your kids, family and friends to this unique learning experience only at the ultimate shopping and entertainment destination--SM City Iloilo.
