Cops get thousands of 'tanods' as support for holidays

THE Iloilo Provincial Police Office (Ippo) recently tapped the assistance of barangay tanods in the Province of Iloilo.

These tanods will be deployed to ensure peaceful All Saints and All Soul's Day celebrations on November 1 and 2 respectively, said Ippo Assistant Regional Director for Operations Superintendent Cornelio Defensor.

Just for the said commemoration, the tanods were deputized by the provincial command to implement peace and order in every cemetery in 42 municipalities and one component city of the province.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) would remain in heightened alert level.

The regional command would impose strict monitoring and inspection in all public utility parking areas and passenger terminals several days before the holidays. (JDB)
