Dumagas mayor says relative to face charges for shooting man

"HE WILL face the charges and the consequences of what he did," said Dumagas Mayor Rolando Distura over a telephone interview on Saturday in relation to reports that his distant relative shot a man to death in PD Monfort North, Dumangas.

Distura said that he is not yet sure if the pistol used by the suspect, Rue Ann Allen Gallinero, was his missing gun but he admitted that it was a .45 pistol.

"He is not my bodyguard, but he is my distant relative who sometime spends time in our house. I have only one security guard in the person of SPO3 Tolentino," Distura said.

"As chief executive, I am not tolerating this kind of attitude. Even if he is my relative yet, he will be answerable to what he did. It's his personal dispute, so he will face it," the mayor added.

Distura said that he is also willing to extend whatever help to the victim's family.

Gallinero was tagged as the one who shot Alex Doronio, 29 of Sitio Subang, PD Monfort North, Dumangas on Thursday night while they were at the wake of the Palma family.

The incident happened at around 10 p.m while they were playing card games.

Sometime later, the victim went outside to urinate and the suspect followed him.

According to witnesses, they saw the victim fall to the ground and the suspect was holding a .45 caliber pistol.

Four hours later, Gallinero surrendered to Distura after the latter directed his policemen to look for the suspect.

However, when Gallinero surrendered to Distura, the gun was not with him.

"He did not admit that the gun he used was my stolen gun," Distura added. (RPS)
