Testing Ground opens at Museo Iloilo By Seralyn Ramos
THE Independent Artist of Iloilo introduced Testing Ground, a second exhibit featuring non-traditional forms of visual art to the local audience.
The said event was held last November 18 at Museo Iloilo. The works in Testing Ground are autonomous renditions from seven artists who recently constituted the IAI as a response to the community's growing challenges in art education, expression, and appreciation.
Faith Anastacio's works invite the viewer to seek clues to converse with her work.
Nil Capinianes creates a triptych resembling references to understand beliefs and faith in the powers of anting-anting.
For the first time, oil and acrylic painter Tiny Firmeza used the digital medium and advertising ground tarpaulin in illustrating the human psyche and posing an inquiry through presenting a significant item.
Carlo Juntado paints his thoughts on an unfortunate life, the sad truth about death, and the puzzling afterlife.
Liby Lmoso captures the atmosphere of discomfort by assembling a space to mount images and contain thoughts about the global paranoia on Avian Influenza or bird flu. Norman Posecion's towering work explores possibilities and appropriates the artistic qualities of adhesive tapes.
Scott Sarria renders his concealed ideas through digital colors and texture in paper.
Testing Ground presented art not as mere manifestations of beauty but also as tools to exercise critical faculties and sound judgments.
I was so amazed by their works as well as meeting some young and talented artists as I witnessed the event.
Visit Museo Iloilo. Testing Ground will be exhibited until December 2005 only.
