Talk about fashion taste By Hazel de los Reyes
REALLY, what are one's basis in saying that a person is fashionable or baduy? Curiosity got the better out of me, so I decided to check out what my fellow students have to say about this.
Fashionable is wearing something new, unique, uncommon or rare. Baduy? It depends on the perception of the person. For me, no one is baduy.
- Pauline Constantino, 3rd year college, San Agustin
Dressed to kill, that is fashionable for me. Also, the one who's not trying hard in wearing fashionable clothes. Baduy, well, it depends on the person if he or she looks good on his or her clothes.
- Sarah Feveel Querubin, 3rd year college, CPU
Wearing hiphop clothes for me is fashionable. Wearing loose shirts and shorts too. Baduy, is something wearing loose shirts and fitting pants, wearing polo and shorts.
- Michael Garvilles, 3rd year, Iloilo Doctors College
Fashionable. As long as you are comfortable and look good on what you wear. You don't have to go with the trend. Baduy is trying to walk the walk, talk the talk, but someone who still looks and sounds like sh**t.
- Victoria Corazon Herradura, 3rd year college, CPU
You are fashionable if you are "in"; you go with the flow. Baduy is, if you mismatch your dress and accessories.
- Karen Joy Ogacion, 4th year high school
Being fashionable or baduy are only relative terms. It really doesn't matter what you wear; what really counts is how you wear it. What is important is you're comfortable and your clothes speak well of your personality.
- Clarece Benjamin, 3rd year college, CPU
What is fashionable? Hmmm... Frankly, I don't care about what is really fashionable. I don't care what is "in" these days. I only dress the way I want to, not to impress anybody. Recently, people tend to follow what is featured by the media, or what is popular, and that is the meaning of baduy in my dictionary. Most people in today's society think that to be a true individual, you must blend in with the crowd, and do what the cool people do. That is absolutely wrong, I tell you. Because, in order for you to be a true individual, you must dress or act on your own unique way. Many don't quite understand our weird fashion sense, as what you call it. Don't judge the book by its cover. Try to know the person first before you make comments about him or her. I finally conclude that fashion is not a trend. It is just the way the people dress themselves. Many people consider others baduy, and others also consider them baduy. But what I can say is, just live our life the way we want it to be.
- Francis Gerard Dioscon, 1st year, CPU
Fashion is but an expression of oneself. Fashionable for me are people who look good and are comfortable in what they wear. Being baduy is very subjective, what's baduy for me can be cool for others and what's baduy for others can be fashionable for me.
- Mary Gwynneth Juliano, 3rd year, CPU
Fashionable for me, aside from wearing of clothes in the right time and in the right place, is something being true with yourself, if you know how to present yourself in others, not only with those "in" clothes, but with the confidence within you, then you are in. Baduy for me on the other hand, is someone who does not know how to appreciate things. Because I do believe that everyone has his or her own choice and taste. No one is baduy, as long as you know what you're wearing.
