'Abduction' of teener puzzles police By Ruby P. Silubrico
THE Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) is puzzled if a 19-year-old lad from La Paz was indeed abducted or if he is just creating a scenario.
According to his family, Joenar Valencia of Don Esteban, La Paz went missing since Monday after fetching his chatmate, Jake Lean Scrotte and two other foreigners.
Records booked by Valencia's mother at the Police Precinct 4 (PP4) in Mandurriao showed that Joenar asked permission from her last Monday to meet his chatmate at the Mandurriao airport at around 1 p.m.
Five hours later, the mother received a text message from Joenar informing her he was at the Rose Hometel Pension House that she should check on him and call the police.
Several minutes later, he texted and informed her that he was at the Lindesa Consultation but did not elaborate about his companions and his situation.
The CIDG checked the pension house and found out that it does not exist anywhere in Panay Island.
It was also learned that there was no scheduled aircraft arriving at 1 p.m. on Mondays.
Joenar's mother sought the help of the CIDG last Tuesday to help locate him but the latter are wondering if the victim was indeed abducted because he still communicates with his family.
"If he is really a victim of abduction, he could no longer communicate with his family," a CIDG staffer said.
Reports reaching CIDG revealed that Joenar was able to chat to his sister and texted to his mother but did not mention where he was.
On the other hand, reports obtained by Aksyon Radyo revealed that Joenar is reportedly texting the elder sister of his girlfriend that he was at Guanco St., Iloilo City and selling a lady's ring.
It was learned that the ring of the elder sister of Joenar's girlfriend was reported missing.
