Police hold courtesy call in City Hall By Jay Dooma Balnig
A FIRST for the Iloilo City Police Office under the leadership of Senior Superintendent Norlito Bautista would be their visit to the City Mayor and the City Councilors Wednesday.
Bautista revealed this Tuesday, adding that those who will participate in the courtesy call are the different precinct chiefs and staff of the ICPO.
The PNP has a tradition of holding a courtesy call during the first week of January, but such is limited only to visits by subordinates to their chief or regional director.
Bautista said that the move signifies their readiness in rendering service to the Ilonggos.
He denied that the move was in relation to the alleged "cold war" between him and Councilor Erwin Plagata, chairman of the City Council's Committee on Police Matters.
The relationship stemmed after Plagata said Bautista by-passed him as regards several communication which prompted the Council to follow the rule that no council-related matter will be discussed if it has not passed through the respective committees.
Welcome
"This is a welcome development," according to Plagata. "I'm happy that Sr. Supt. Bautista has recognized the City Council."
Plagata also revealed that the ICPO's P4.2 million total budget for 2006 was already approved. The amount includes budget for fuel (P1.1M), supply and materials (P380,000) and allowances for 501 police personnel (P2.3M) among others.
However, the capital outlay on their supplemental budget has yet to be deliberated upon by the City Council.(with KVC)
