Volume of evidences, witnesses delay airport probe report: Defensor By Jay Dooma Balnig
THE heavy pieces of evidence and volume of witnesses are causing the House Committee on Good Government delay in resolving the case of the Iloilo Airport of International Development Project.
The yearlong investigation ended last December.
Representative Arthur Defensor, committee chairman revealed this in a radio interview Tuesday.
He added that they have enough incremental pieces of evidence to satisfy the committee's requirement in probing the alleged anomalies.
The probe result will also recommend for the filing of administrative and criminal charges against public officials found to be involved in the said anomalies.
One of the anomalies in the airport construction was the alleged overpriced building accessory used during the last phase of the construction.
Based on the documents presented, the Provincial Government paid the contractor 40 to 100 percent more than the market price for comfort room apparels.
Iloilo Gov. Tupas Sr. considered the allegation as politically motivated.
"My rival used that issue during the last elections, but the people re-elected me with the highest number of margin of more than 150,000," Tupas said.
