Priest questions Quezon, De Leon judging area
By Kathy Villalon Cinco

A PRIEST of Sta. Teresita Church questioned the placement of a judging stage at the Quezon corner De Leon Streets in connection with the upcoming Dinagyang Festival.

The said church is located in this area.

Fr. Rex Kiloca, assistant parish priest, in a radio interview Wednesday, said their daily masses would be affected during the Dinagyang competitions on January 28 and 29.

Ben Jimena, executive director of the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (Idfi), told Sun.Star Wednesday they have not received any formal complaint yet, but gave assurance that once such letter is received, they will talk about it and strike a compromise.

"For the meantime, the proposal to have a judging area in Quezon-De Leon Streets is intended to involve the whole community during Dinagyang 2006. I hope they understand our objective," he said.

Fr. Kiloca said they plan to send an official letter to Mayor Jerry P. Trenas to urge him to transfer the judging area somewhere else.

The other judging areas are at the Freedom Grandstand, Quezon-Ledesma Streets, Rizal-Guanco Streets and the Provincial Capitol.
