MIWD water now safe: management By Lory Ann B. Bilbao
METRO Iloilo Water District (MIWD) Operations Department Officer in charge Edgar Calasara, assured clean and safe water distribution to Sta. Barbara, Pavia, districts of Jaro, La Paz, part of Mandurriao and Iloilo City downtown area after a day of incidental suction.
MIWD, in its statement sent to Sun.Star Iloilo, announced that the quality of its water supply was restored and is now potable and safe to drink.
"Immediate solution was undertaken to restore the quality of our water supply, hence this is now potable and safe to drink," said MIWD.
After remedial measures, the normal pressure of water supply was resumed since Friday, according to MIWD.
In an earlier statement issued last January 12, the MIWD explained that their water supply has been turbid or cloudy because of the "incidental suction of the water treatment plant relative to the ongoing dredging of sand and silt at Basin No. 1 of its reservoir in Talanghauan, Sta. Barbara."
The company then advised the consumers in the said areas to refrain from using their water supply for drinking.
But just Friday, Calasara allayed hesitations of water use and assured the water supply is already clean and safe for drinking.
