Army man faces rap for killing bro By Ruby P. Silubrico
A MURDER charge was finally filed on Friday against a member of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for brutally killing his younger brother last week at their house in Barangay Cabilauan, New Lucena.
Charged before the court of New Lucena was Cpl. Francis Somido of Military Intelligence Group 6.
Somido shot to death his younger brother Joemarie last January 8, at around 8 a.m. when the two met in their house.
The elder Somido reportedly shot his brother several times using his M16 armalite rifle without any provocation.
Somido's superior Major Legayo vowed to negotiate his personnel to surrender saying that he is also responding to the text messages he sent.
Major Legayo added that if Somido will surrender, he assured security for his family and he will be under their custody while the case is ongoing.
As of presstime, the suspect did not reveal why he killed his brother.
It was learned that the victim has been summoned by the barangay officials for creating annoyance every time he gets drunk.
Prior to the incident, the suspect reportedly was approached by their barangay captain to tell the victim and his other brothers to refrain from creating trouble in their place.
This probably irked the suspect thus, he approached him until the incident happened.
It was learned that on January 1, while their barangay was celebrating a party, the victim, his friends and other brothers Vicente, Ruben, Albert his friends Sherwin Simpas and Sipil Limtoco created annoyance.
Vicente, the younger brother the suspect and victim said that the victim even offered coffee and bread to the suspect then said, "Tol ano ang problema?"
But, the suspect did not answer. Instead, he shot the victim several times.
Joemarie is reportedly an ex-convict and former member of the Philippine Air Force (PAF)./RPS
