Guv pledges P.5M for new police building
By Ruby P. Silubrico

THE Iloilo Provincial Government headed by Governor Niel Tupas Sr., has pledged P.5 million for the construction of the new building of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) at Camp Sumagaysay, Sta. Barbara, Iloilo.

During a turnover ceremony of the new IPPO Provincial Director, Senior Supt. Joel Napoleon Coronel, Tupas promised that the IPPO building will be finished.

It was learned that majority of the provincial mayors also vowed to donate P20,000 each for the said building.

The proposed building, which is located beside the one, already has a foundation and was constructed during the time of then IPP0 director Senior Supt. Juan Mabugat located, who retired last December.

The old IPPO building has been established long time ago and even the quarters of the police officers and the provincial director is also too old.

"I hope the building will be finished before my tenure here expires. I'm thankful to our governor," Coronel said.

On the other hand, Tupas urged Coronel to focus on how to eradicate cattle rustling in the province especially in the second District of Iloilo.

Last week, several cattle were reported missing in the town of Leon.

Coronel vowed to strengthen his operation against cattle rustlers and he asked the support of the community for the peace and order of the province.
