ICPO launches Task Group Angel By Ruby P. Silubrico
THE Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) formally launched Task Group Angel (TGA) last Saturday.
TGA is located in Barangays Malipayon and Tanza Esperanza City Proper and aims to eradicate illegal drug trade in these areas.
ICPO Director Senior Superintendent Norlito Bautista said with the creation of TGA, he hopes that illegal drugs distribution in these barangays will be neutralized.
Chief Inspector Jack Wancky will head the group together with Inspector Dandy Deocampo and Inspector Alexander Rosales, intelligence operations officer.
They will be divided into two groups --- one will be at Barangay Malipayon while the other half will be at Barangay Tanza Esperanza.
They are temporarily staying at the barangay hall.
Bautista said he already has a list of the drug pushers in these areas but won't reveal them to protect their (police's) operations.
However, he confirmed that one of the targets is Boy Odicta, who reportedly operates in Barangay Malipayon.
City Mayor Jerry P. Trenas, Vice Mayor Guillermo De Llana, city councilors and barangay officials attended the launching.
The City Government has donated two motorcycles and two new back-to-back L300 to be used in running after drug pushers and other crooks in the city.
The Police Regional Office, through the effort of Chief Superintendent Doroteo Reyes II gave 50 .9mm pistols for the police personnel.
The City Government vowed to help the ICPO in its fight against illegal drugs.
TGA is the second group created by the ICPO. The TG Bakhaw in Mandurriao was the first.
Bautista said that TGB was successful in arresting hundreds of drug pushers and users.
