Conscience bloc's 'Belo Boys' a defense mechanism: Mejorada
By Lory Ann B. Bilbao

PROVINCIAL Administrator Manuel Mejorada said the "Belo Boys" or allegations by the Conscience Bloc that Iloilo Governor Niel D. Tupas Sr. has 150 contractual employees, most of them without definite assignments, was merely a defense mechanism by Vice Gov. Roberto Armada.

Mejorada revealed this Thursday.

"Leyte Mudslide". Post your comments on the incident here.

Mejorada added that the issue had floated after that of Armada's 'ghost employees' was tackled. He said that it's obvious that the Conscience Bloc would like to drift the attention away from Armada.

The Conscience Bloc is composed of Board Members Gallar, 3rd District; Macario Napulan, 1st District; Bernardo Sillar Jr., 1st District; and Romeo Palmares, 4th District.

Mejorada said that it seemed the conscience bloc's camp has poor proof, referring to the letter sent by Board Member Emmanuel Gallar to Armada last Wednesday. In the letter, Gallar urged Armada to conduct an investigation on Tupas's alleged 150 "Belo Boys."

Tactics

"This is one of the tactics of the Vice Governor nga labugayon, lubugon ang tubig para magsaylo ang issue kay Tupas," Mejorada said.

Mejorada added that the letter may have been planned and possibly scripted that it came out in time with the grant of the SP to investigate with that of Armada's 30 alleged ghost employees.

Parallel probe

Gallar told Sun.Star Thursday he wanted the investigation to be conducted in parallel to that of Armada's.

Armada, in return, stated that he intends to carry the matter in the next regular session (of the SP) agenda.
