Miss Hiyas 2006 Winlove Dupit By Mera Joy Aniolga
BEING Asians, its natural for us -- especially girls to be short. Most of us are vertically challenged. I do hope I'm not just speaking for my self. And females who are tall often make heads turn. They are usually made into good models and beauty pageant queens.
It's no wonder this year's Miss Hiyas is Winlove Dupit. Standing tall at 5'7, she has a statuesque figure and a very Pinay beauty that one will surely notice. She is the one and only daughter of Leonardo Dupit and Anna Dupit. Her name Winlove has quite a history. Her parents decided to name her that due to the fact that her parent had to face so many struggles before they got together. For them love won in their personal battle and she is the fruit of such sweet endeavor. In the end, love prevailed. Love triumphed indeed!
She is currently taking up Mass Communication major in Broadcasting at West Visayas State University. She spent her elementary years at La Paz I Elementary School and later on transferred to Western Visayas College of Science and Technology where she graduated. She spent her High School year at Jalandoni Memorial High School.
She is also very active in their school activities being a member of Panayana, a choral group in her school and an officer at the First Year Council.
But unlike other 17-year-olds who spent their time at the mall or partying, Winlove is a certified homebody. She keeps herself busy through dancing, singing and painting, especially with having artist Joy Fernando as her godmother. It's no wonder this girl loves to paint. She is also very nationalistic in terms of her musical preferences because likes listening to mostly OPM. She likes Mellow and Pop Music too.
She keeps herself in shape through swimming, exercise and eating vegetables. She said she's a vegetarian.
To be a successful broadcaster and a model is her ultimate goal in life.
Winning as Miss Hiyas last January 26, 2006 was not her first time in joining beauty contest. In 2003, she was crowned as Miss Jalandoni Memorial High School and later on proceeded to represent the school at the Miss Iloilo City School Sports Council Meet where she won the 2nd runner up. She was also crowned as Miss Glamour 2003 and a 2nd runner up in this year's Miss Mass Com at her school.
Talent, beauty, confidence and intelligence. If you have these, then you are a surefire winner and Miss Dupit has it all. And mind you, winning is not just in her spirit but also in her name.
