Another rehabilitation center wing needs P58M

PROVINCIAL Engineers Office, in its presentation of the built Wing A of the New Iloilo Rehabilitation Center in Nanga, Pototan revealed that another wing (B) is up for construction, which would cost P58 million.

In Tuesday's regular session of the Provincial Board, Engineer Palabrica showed that Wing A, where more or less 800 inmates were transferred to earlier, the mess hall, and the development of the site is 95.40 percent done.

In June 8, the same wing was agreed to be accomplished at P73.05 million budget and construction of Wing B to jumpstart after that.

In his report, he said a total of P15 million was utilized for initial preparations for the construction of Wing A; P7.5 million for the mess hall; P35.5 million for the completion of the same wing and mess hall and P15 million was used for the development of the site.

Palabrica told the Provincial Board that Wing B, which will comprise, among others the 64 cells (eight inmates each cell) and comfort rooms and its site development will cost more or less P58 million.

Construction of Wing B was estimated to cost P47 million while its site development including the enclosure of the same with security fence will cost P11 million.

The Provincial Board approved a total of 20 million appropriated for the rise of the said wing.

Palabrica said there has already been a total of P12.5 million on the bidding process.

The Provincial Board assured that the sourcing for the lacking P25 million for Wing B will be done soon.
