Hotel del Rio beefs up management, marketing
By Kathy Villalon Cinco

FOR a business to stay competitive, it has to open itself to linkages with others. Such networking could help one improve the business's performance, boost its reputation, products, and staff skills as well as make access to information and support easier.

Congratulations to the graduates of 2006! Post your graduation experiences and greetings here.

Realizing the value of becoming a more competitive hotel, Hotel del Rio, once family-run is now being managed by Hotelink, a management company started by no less than Patrick Gregorio, the man said to have played a big role in boosting Cebu's tourism.

A seasoned hotelier and travel expert, Gregorio's expertise and that of the team behind Hotelink opens more opportunities for Hotel del Rio to become a world-class hotel that the owner, the Loring family, wants it to be.

An Ilonggo by birth who spent years in Cebu and Davao, Gregorio during a recent press conference at Hotel del Rio said, "Hotelink is Filipino-managed and we understand the culture and values of the owner as well as the community."

Now on its 40th year, Hotel del Rio expects a more aggressive marketing and better profit under this network.

Hotelink manages other hotels in different cities like Manila, Cebu, Davao, and Bohol. It's also an affiliate of Global Link that exists in Cebu, Manila, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Japan.

"So, Hotel del Rio will have representations in these key cities," Gregorio said.

Hotel del Rio will also be part of Asia Travel.com soon. This is the real time Internet affiliate that with just one click can lead a traveler to his or her desired destination and accommodations.

With this new partnership, Hotel del Rio will be more accessible to markets in Cebu, Manila, Davao and Asian countries, which are the primary target market.

Hotel del Rio will also be networked with Cebu Pacific's Hotel Plus, making it a part of the airline company's Fun Tours programs.

Gregorio revealed that T&G Tourism Development Corp., the sister company of Hotelink, is the exclusive ground handler of all Cebu Pacific routes.

"So, being a part of Hotelink results to management made easy," Gregorio said.

Presently, those networked with Hotel Link are Parklane International in Cebu, Sylvia Manor in Bacolod City, Amarela Hotel in Panglao, Bohol and a marketing affiliate in Flashing Meadows, Panglao, Bohol.
