Trike driver faces criminal charge By Ruby P. Silubrico
A TRICYCLE driver who claimed to be shot and maltreated by barangay officials of Baldoza, La Paz on Saturday is now facing a string of criminal cases in court.
Baldoza Barangay chief Antonio Jaleco charged Jay Bolante Tuesday for resisting arrest, direct assault and possessing deadly weapon.
Jaleco claimed that Bolante resisted and even assaulted him while pacifying a misunderstanding between him and Reynaldo Balm at the dance hall of said barangay.
He further claimed that he only wanted to maintain peace and order as head of the barangay but Bolante remained unruly and disrespected him.
Bolante, however, said Jaleco shot him during a grappling that ensued between him and Barangay Balm who was drunk during the incident.
Witnesses said Bolante was standing at the gate of the Dance Hall when Balm approached and later stabbed him.
Bolante was confined at Western Visayas Medical Center but was later released because his gunshot wound is not fatal.
Jaleco immediately surrendered to the Police Precinct 2 (PP2), La Paz after the incident but was later released through the intervention of Prosecutor Melvin Sustinto.
Meanwhile, Police Precinct 2 Chief Alejandro Apostol said if Bolante would file a case against Jaleco, Prosecutor Sustinto is ready to produce Jaleco.
