Lapuz beats City Proper, leads standing
THE main game of the MAYOR'S CUP (U-17 Inter District Basketball Tournament) between the visiting City Proper and the host Lapuz District was intense from the beginning of the tip-off. Both teams came from wins in their previous games.
The Jalandoni Estate Gym was filled with supporters from both districts but the crowd was controlled by the barangay tanods provided by the host team.
The Lapuz was in control of the game by leading all the way right from the very start, the City Proper manage only to tie the game but never took advantage of the situation. In the dying seconds of the game Chester Abella manage to attempt for a game tying 3 point shot but he missed. The win put Lapuz on top of the Team Standings. The tournament is sponsored by the Iloilo City Government under the leadership of Mayor Jerry P. Treñas.
