Garin to run in Igabaras if needed: Esmeralda
By Lory Ann B. Bilbao

IGBARAS Mayor James Esmeralda said former first district congressman Oscar Garin told him he (Garin) might run for mayor in Igbaras, where he is now registered, if he sees the need.

Esmeralda said this in an interview with Aksyon Radyo last week.

He said he had a talk with Garin a month before latter registered in Igbaras and was told that he won't join the political race.

"We've had a talk one time after he registered in Igabras but he did not divulge his intentions for doing the same. I inquired kon nagpa-register siya and he said don't be alarmed," Esmeralda said.

"As I see it, he said he won't run in this election unless there's a development that would require him to do so. What we talked about was, he won't run," the mayor said.

However, Garin's statement confuses the mayor saying he won't be surprised if Garin does run.

"Most probably, there are tactical moves, knowing their political background. But we could not tell what their plans are," he said.

Esmeralda revealed that when Garin run for governor against Governor Niel Tupas Sr., the former had more votes than the latter.

Esmeralda, an ally of Tupas, did not confirm if he's going to shift to Garin's camp if the latter runs for governor.

"We'll know that later," he added.

Earlier, Representative Janet Garin of the 1st District confirmed that her father-in-law has registered in Igbaras and the reason was for him to tend to their farm. Rep. Garin said he plans to boost the agricultural opportunities of the said town.
