Police car busted; snatchers escape By Ruby P. Silubrico
TWO snatchers were able to escape from the police chasing them in La Paz because the latter's patrol car was damaged.
Two unidentified snatchers freely escaped by running towards McArthur Drive, La Paz after snatching the bag of Stela Marie Garcia, 21 of Miag-ao and an employee of one of the establishments in Molo on the morning of May 19 along Luna, La Paz.
Garcia and her boardmate Raffy Parpa of Janiuay, Iloilo were reportedly riding a passenger jeep at around 4 a.m. When the jeep stopped along Luna, two persons motioned for the driver to stop, but instead of riding, they snatched Garcia's bag.
Garcia immediately reported the incident to the Police Precinct 2, thus the latter responded by chasing the snatchers. Engine damage caused their car to stop along McArthur Drive.
The police transferred to another patrol car but the snatchers eluded them.
PO3 Bernardino Valez confirmed this.
The said car was reportedly a second hand vehicle given by the City Government to the PP2, but was at the machine shop often because of engine trouble.
