Doc won't resign; faces suspension
DOCTOR George Acepcion, chief of the Ramon Tabiana Memorial Hospital (RTMH) in Cabatuan changed his mind about resigning.
He is now facing a 60-day preventive suspension served against him instead.
Iloilo Governor Niel D. Tupas on Thursday revealed to the media that the provincial government is serving a 60-day preventive suspension on Acepcion for alleged immorality.
The suspension took effect Thursday. Acepcion received the order.
He reportedly said he would deprive himself of the vindication he wishes to prove for himself if he resigns.
Tupas said the same suspension should have been effective Wednesday but Acepcion refused to receive it.
Acepcion, married, was accused of committing immoral acts while performing his duty by involving himself in a relationship with a casual employee in the same hospital.
Sixty of his hospital staff filed a complaint before the Governor last March. Then, Tupas ordered the Provincial Planning and Development Office (PPDO) headed by chief Mario Nillos to make a fact-finding committee that will conduct an investigation on the case and make his recommendation. (LABB)
