Dads on the ramp
JUNE 17, 2006 was a special day for the fathers who participated in SM City Iloilo and ABS-CBN Iloilo's Dads on the Ramp: A Father's Day Fashion Show featuring Iloilo City's Best Dads.
The fathers who participated in the said event were very much thrilled as they do the catwalk while their wives and children cheerfully watch and tickled by the antics that the fathers do onstage to the wonderment of the audience.
While they were busy onstage, we got little bits of information from their wives as well as their children. Biko Mabilog, wife of Alphacrest Christian Academy's big boss Bong Mabilog told us that her husband always sacrifices his own wants and needs for theirs. "He is not only a father but a friend to his children, what ever the kids set to accomplish, he never fails to let them know that he believes in them, that they could do it with flying colors," Mrs. Mabilog added. She enjoys the company of her husband while taking long drives to Manila, Bagiou and Cebu. During which time they can talk about anything without the pressures of work.
Tough dad, ready to protect his family from any harm, but when we ask his wife what is his most kept secret -- He is terrified of going to the dentist.
Ted's Old Timer La Paz Batchoy's owner and manager Ret. Chief Inspector Lorenzo Puda is described by his wife as a loving and responsible husband.
He enjoys the company of her grandchildren whenever they visit him. A regular day for Puda would be exercise and of course, manage his business to create the best batchoy in town.
For Noel Guevara's wife Malou, her husband is a "superdad", his family is his no.1 priority. "He has a wonderful sense of humor so he laughs easily," said Mrs. Guevara. When asked what is the most kept secret of her husband, she answered, "his pictures 20 years ago." Wonder what those pictures show.
Jess Sio, owner of Ledi Supermart Jaro is into tough activities like fighting fires being a volunteer fire fighter but a softee when it comes to his kids. He knows how to mix their milk, change their diapers or even give them a bath. "Dads would often leave these things to their wives. But not Jess," said anne Lynette Sio, his wife. The daily routine of Jess would be bringing their eldest daughter Yana to school every morning. Then proceed to Ledi Supermart Jaro to attend to the business then fetch his daughter again at noon, eat lunch at home and then go back to work for the afternoon.
He lets his children sleep before going to the Federation Firehouse every Wednesday. "He is the best dad because he does not only finacially provide for his kids needs but he sees to it that he fills their emotional, psychological and spiritual needs as well. He can be a tough disciplinarian at one time and he can also be his kids' playmate at another time", stressed Mrs. Sio.
Responsible dad Dr. Chester Jardiolin loves steak and gardening and gets a good laugh whenever he is at home or on vacation with his wife and children. Mind you, this doctor can tickle your taste buds with his great cooking.
For wife Dial Jardeleza, Engr.Nilo Jardeleza is a loving and responsible father and husband to his wife and family. He loves to eat vegetables and fruits -- probably the secret of his glowing personality. A good provider to his family, he loves life being with his children to have bonding time with them. He is hardworking and a philanthropist," Mrs. Jardeleza added.
Pinoy Big Brother's Tatay Rudy Fernandez found it amusing when one time he forgot to change his socks on his artificial leg during one of his sports event. "He is a gentleman" proudly stressed by his wife Melba Fernadez.
Despite his artificial right leg, he still have that strong desire to do more sports events. His other leg did not hamper his strong desire to enjoy life.
When San Miguel Corporation's Luis Vazquez son Miguel was asked about the most kept secret of his dad, he just answered, "It's between me and my dadâ." Intriguing huh? Vazquez loves eating shrimps, crabs and talaba -- all good with a cold bottle of beer. Daddy Luiz is a very hardworking and loving dad --he deserves to be called the best dad," Added Miguel.
No here is something of interest. According to Marisa Montelibano, wife of Chef Salvador Apuan, her husband is very special because he decided to marry her and have children even if she is physically handicapped and in a wheelchair. "When we were living in the United States and we had no maids, he helped me in all the house chores -- from laundry to grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning the house and taking care of the two children. He did all these on top of going to work and going to culinary school at night. Im so happy to have a husband who loves me unconditionally," told Mrs. Apuan.
"He is the best dad because he is not afraid to be himself and he genuinely care for others," a statement from Mr. Francis Dela Cruz's daughter Michiko. My best moments would be spending quality time with my dad and have movie marathons with him or just watching CSI and NBA on TV. Moments like these are simple, but they are almost out of the mastercard commercial, priceless," added Michiko.
Loving, responsible and a good provider -- three adjectives that would describe Captain Rudy Romero Trava. Mrs. Mae Trava stressed, My husband is a very loving person, thoughtful, caring and the best teaser in town. No dull moments if he's at home."
"My husband is a good provider and I really enjoy his company especially every time we eat out," said Armi Gruenberg. Despite the busy schedule of this hotel management expert, his ordinary day would boil down to watching TV, sleep and spend time with family and eat his favorite adobado -- a tagalog pork adobo with liver sauce.
TV Patrol sa Diyes news anchor and Sikat ka! Iloilo host Atty. Jobert Penaflorida spends quality time with beautiful wife Rhea and daughter Abbie Genevieve despite his hectic schedule--a major quality of a best dad.
Col. Ramiro Busalanan, despite the distance with his wife and kids maintain to be a good provider and works hard for them while doing his duties here in the region.
These dads composed the fashion show at SM City Iloilo. Ultimate events with ultimate people happens only at the Ultimate Shopping and Entertainment Destination.
