Cop faces dismissal for Calinog teacher's death
IRKED by what Police Officer 2 Henry Lego did to a teacher on Monday morning, Chief Superintendent Doroteo Reyes II ordered Iloilo Provincial Director Joel Napoleon Coronel to relieve Lego and conduct a pre-charge investigation.
He said if there's probable cause that Lego is liable of the offense, he would be dismissed from the police service.
"He was relieved in order for him to answer the pre-charge investigation and I assure you that there will be no biases here. We will rely on the rule of law and follow the proper procedure," Reyes said.
Coronel also directed Calinog Police Chief Mariano Palmes to send Lego to the crime laboratory for drug and paraffin tests after the M16 rifle he used in shooting Moises Dorigo, 39, a college teacher of West Visayas State University, Calinog Campus was recovered.
Reyes said that Lego did what he did because he was pressured or he had an emotional disorder.
Murder
A murder charge was already filed against Lego Tuesday before the Regional Trial Court.
Alice Dorigo, wife of the victim and the witnesses submitted their affidavits.
Lego shot to death Dorigo at around 7 a.m. while the latter was about to time-in on the school's logbook. The victim died after he was shot on his left chest and right back portion.
The Monday incident stemmed from a heated argument last Saturday between Dorigo and Lego's business associate and a teacher, Prime Rose Lapating, at Sunshine Valley KTV Bar at Rizal Street, Calinog.
The victim and his fellow teachers had a drinking session when the microphone wire was destroyed. After fixing it, Dorigo tapped the shoulder of Lapating to signify that it's okay, but she considered it as sexual harassment.
Lapating informed Lego of what happened and this probably irked the latter, causing him to shoot Dorigo two days later.
Meanwhile, Lapating will be facing charges after throwing a stone to Joecel Huesca, a reporter of GMA Ratsada when he tried to get her side on the matter. (RPS)
