Guv to Rolex: Go ahead run, commit political suicide By Nelson C. Robles
GOVERNOR Niel D. Tupas, Sr. dared his nephew, Congressman Rolex T. Suplico to make good his promise to run for governor against him.
Tupas revealed this Monday in his regular press conference at the Provincial Capitol.
"I want him to run. Maybe this is the only way to knock him out of his senses, let him realize he would be committing a political suicide," uttered Tupas when pressed for the nth time his reaction to the challenge of his nephew in the forthcoming elections exactly a year from now.
Tupas failed to hide his annoyance towards his nephew when Suplico in a recent news write-up was insinuating a big politician short of mentioning his name was behind in an extortion attempt to stain his credibility over a love-child issue.
Surprisingly as of late, Tupas has no qualms rebuking publicly his nephew on which a lot of their Ilonggo constituents started to suspect animosity between him and his nephew is for real.
On several instances Rolex reportedly tried to discredit his uncle's past achievement as far as road infrastructures project is concerned. He would even boast he has delivered basic services satisfactorily in his incumbency compared to that of Tupas then still a congressman.
In rebuttal, Tupas would drag Suplico in return as his infrastructure consultant hence he found it deeply strange for the latter to blame him in the deterioration of the roads in the northern part of Iloilo.
"I hope Congressman Suplico would prove not only in words but also in deeds if he is really honest and sincere to his self while putting me in a bad light," emphasized Tupas.
"Anyway if he really believes he would win against me, I am strongly encouraging him to run. Maybe he needs a shock treatment," added Tupas.
"I'm afraid he won't make to the home base", Tupas further said.
