Murder case in Boracay solved: Police By Ruby P. Silubrico
THE Police Regional Office 6 through Deputy Regional Director for Operation Isagani Cuevas considered the Boracay murder solved after a suspect was identified.
Cuevas on Monday said that the suspect was already identified as Jesus Balbaquer of Sagay Negros Occidental and a former employee at Bamboo Beach Resort.
The victim Arcelie Hag, wife of Swiss national Paul Hag, owned the resort.
The Criminal Investigation and Detective Group (CIDG) headed by Superintendent Renato Gumban who helped the Boracay Special Tourist Unit headed by Chief Inspector Jess Mendez will be filing charges against Balbaquer within this week.
This after his former co-workers tagged him as the last person who was seen holding a knife, which was recovered, inside the victim's room.
The autopsy result conducted by medico-legal officer Noel Martinez showed that the victim succumbed to 19 stab wounds. Four on her left and right chest were fatal stab wounds.
The investigating team theorized that the incident could have been done by one person but, they also considered that two other employees -- Artemio Boho and Romeo Reston -- were also involved.
Philippine National Police chief Arturo Lomibao personally went to Boracay Island last week to investigate the incident.
He then directed Regional Director Doroteo Reyes II to create an investigating body to focus on this case.
