Fire officer charged for sexual harassment
By Ruby P. Silubrico

A FIRE officer was arrested Tuesday afternoon after he was charged for sexually harassing the daughter of a former radio station manager in Aklan province.

Fire Officer 2 Gregorio Otico III of Pavia, Iloilo and a logistic officer of the regional Bureau of Fire Protection was arrested when he arrived at around 1 p.m. at the bus terminal in Kalibo Aklan.

Jennifer, a daughter of Fred Allaga, former manager of Bombo Radyo Station in Bacolod, complained that Otico allegedly sexually harassed her while inside the bus.

Jennifer said that she rode the bus to Aklan when Otico sat beside her. At first, Otico talked casually with her and that she also entertained him. However, when the bus was somewhere in Capiz, Otico started to say some harassing words against her, but she did not mind. Then, he started touching her legs and kept on tapping on her breast.

Without his knowledge, Jennifer already told her family and her husband about the incident. When they reached the Aklan terminal, the police arrested Otico.

Meanwhile, Acting Bureau of Fire Protection Regional Director, Superintendent William Del Rosario Wednesday said that Otico was on his official trip to Boracay.

Del Rosario said that he has already instructed their Provincial Fire Marshall Dennis Daymon to conduct an investigation on what really happened.

He added that if Otico is found guilty of sexual harassment, he would be facing administrative charges apart from the criminal charge that the victim will file. (RPS)
