PSB releases P8.4M aid to public elementary, high schools

A TOTAL amount of P8,407,000 worth of checks was released by the Provincial School Board (PSB) yesterday checks to public elementary and secondary schools.
The release of fund took place in a simple ceremony held at the Governor's Office Board Room with Governor Niel D. Tupas, Sr. and Provincial Planning and Development Office head Mario Nillos.
The checks ranged from P50,000 to P150,000 will be utilized to purchase various school projects such as TV, DVD player, computer, photocopying machine, electric pump, as well as in the improvement of school facilities and building of new classrooms.
The checks were released to 115 schools in 32 municipalities in the province and received by school principals and municipal treasurers. Tupas chair of PSB, said he is willing to release fund to public schools as long as they can comply the needed requirements.
A product of public school himself, he (Tupas) believes that the improved school facilities and fine environment has the great contribution to the performance of schoolchildren inside the classroom.
With the reported decline of students' achievements in periodic exams in public schools, Tupas is willing to extend support to any school programs to reinforce the level of performance of both teachers and students.
Meanwhile, Nillos reiterated to schools heads to utilize the financial assistance they received to the intended projects stipulated in the resolutions they passed to PSB.
He said, however, if they plan to realign the money to other projects, he advised them to pass a letter requesting for the realignment of the said fund to PSB office. (Capitol News)
