Ability Ann Tacaisan: Religious, academician, adventurous, dreamer By Ruby Supranes and Kristine Palomar
"God has created us equally, therefore we have equal power and strength." -- Ability Ann Tacaisan
BEING a religious person and a believer of equality, this young lady sees the world's potential to grow.
At sweet sixteen, Ability Ann Tacaisan is a fourth year student of Colegio del Sagrado Corazon de Jesus. This girl, born under the sign of Aquarius, is a native of Guimaras. She is the third child of Wifredo and Leonila Tacaisan.
Abby, as her friends and relatives call her, loves to read books. She is an avid fan of J.K. Rowling and her Harry Potter books. She enjoys animation and she wants to hangout with her friends.
Children of Mary
Tacaisan is a member of the Children of Mary, a religious organization in their school. Last summer, their organization conducted a youth camp seminar at Olongapo City. Tacaisan said that she has learned a lot from that seminar. It broadened her faith and she saw how lucky she was.
The organization that she had joined since her grade school has an objective to extend aid and services to some less fortunate brothers in the street.
Academics
Despite her work at the Children of Mary, Tacaisan sees to it that she will not lose track of her academic standings. In fact, Abby is running for Class Valedictorian this school year. Her academic standings do not degrade as she progresses her years in high school; she even managed to add to the achievements she had before.
She is a Math Sages Club member, and became a school participant in different competition. Tacaisan got the 2nd place in Political Science Quiz Bee, 6th placer during an oration competition, 1st place in a team competition in an Environmental Quiz Bowl, and a PRISAA participant since her grade school. To add to her achievements, Tacaisan became a 3rd placer during the Sun.Star Iloilo Info Challenge an inter-school competition for the junior and senior students from both public and private schools in the city.
Adventurous
Tacaisan considers herself as an adventurous lady. She is always game to do things that are new to her and which she thinks she could gain lessons out of that experience. She finds the world as a healthy and happy place to learn new experiences. As a young lady of her age, she enjoys everything she sees, she always has an explanation for the things that cross her way.
Dreams
Like any teenager of her age, Tacaisan has a lot of dreams that she wishes to achieve someday. But she admits that there are dreams that remain to be dreams for her, like when she is still a kid she dreamt to be an astronaut and could travel in outer space. As she grew, she realized that the dream to be an astronaut will remain as a childhood dream for her. Tacaisan shyly said that her dream at the present is to have a solo performance in their school before she will graduate in her high school days.
Abby wants to be a pediatrician someday. She always has the heart for young angels, but because of some reasons she decided to take up Nursing as her college course and she's planning to proceed to medicine someday.
Message
"There are a lot of children in our country, you should give priority to the education of the younger generation", Tacaisan said when asked of her message to our president.
And to her fellow youth, Tacaisan shares her philosophy in life. "Face hardships for they are opportunities to develop oneself."
