Lambunao police on alert; workers told to leave after rebel attack intel By Ruby P. Silubrico
EMPLOYEES of the municipality of Lambunao, Iloilo went home early Monday after receiving reports that the Lambunao Police Station would be the subject of an attack by the New People's Army (NPA).
Around 40 personnel of the Lambunao Police Station in full battle gear, guarded their station as well as boosted police visibility after they received the said information.
The police personnel sought augmentation from the Armed Forces of the Philippines.
The information came from Oton. The said intelligence stated that Lambunao is the next target following the rebels' attack in Matnog, Sorsogon the other day.
There were reports that the rebels would be attacking some police stations and detachments anytime as part of their offensive attacks.
Among the towns subject for the attacks are Tubungan where SPO1 Larry Vicente was recently shot dead; Igbaras, San Joaquin, Miag-ao, Leon, Alimodian, Calinog, Lambunao and Bingawan.
On the other hand, Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO) Director S/Supt. Joel Napoleon Coronel, said that they were already in full alert prior to receiving the information. He said they would take the information seriously.
