Barias to recall VIPs' security
By Ruby P. Silubrico

REGIONAL Police Director Geary Barias will recall the security of very important persons (VIPs) like politicians and businessmen, as part of the region's thrust to put more policemen in the streets.

Barias said an oversight committee has reviewed the assignments of policemen and the issuance of long firearms.

He said some politicians and businessmen may no longer need the police security. "We need our men on the field," he said. "We need more men on the streets."

The regional office will deploy 90 percent of its force on the streets to secure the community.

"We hope to implement these things this week," Barias said.

He also said he will strengthen the security in Boracay Island, touted to be the country's top tourist spot.
